Our FareShare Go service currently works with Tesco, Asda and Waitrose to give charities, schools and community groups access to FREE surplus food. There are no catches or nasty tie-ins. The scheme simply allows you collect ambient and chilled foods from a local supermarket. It’s all good quality and tasty too.
Around 150 stores are now taking part in the programme in the Midlands, with new ones joining every week.
Once you have been accepted on to the FareShare Go scheme (you will need to be visited by a FareShare community coordinator before this happens), you’re ready to go. You will then be matched with at least one local store and allocated a minimum of one collection day per week. Your biggest commitment is popping into the store and picking up the food from a friendly member of the retailer’s staff.
We also work closely with Central England Cooperative Society, managing its waste food programme on a daily basis. More than 250 stores feed into this programme, and we typically distribute up to three tonnes of good quality, fresh ambient foods every day (Monday to Saturday).

Important notice about the food
The food offered to you is good quality. But it can no longer be sold by a retailer. This could be because it has damaged packaging or has a short shelf life. This doesn’t have an impact on the standard or safety of the food items available. Food available often includes bread, pastries, eggs, fresh fruit and vegetables.
