Find Out More“It seems like a vicious cycle that can be incredibly difficult to get out of without the right support. It’s awful that so many children in Birmingham and across the Midlands are being failed. That’s why I think it’s important for charities like FareShare Midlands to be there and help those who need it.”
Concerned by these growing challenges, Oliver decided to take action.
With this, we are delighted to share that Oliver has signed up for the London Marathon on April 27th 2025. Oliver aims to raise money and awareness for FareShare Midlands, after finding out about the charity through his partner; “My partner has worked with several charities and recommended FareShare Midlands as one of the charities that make a huge impact”
But this is no easy feat. The London Marathon will be Oliver’s first-ever marathon, and training through cold, wet winter months has made it even tougher: “Running throughout winter was a tough one, but I’m hoping all the training pays off and I reach the finish line in London”.
Despite the challenges, Oliver is determined to make a difference, setting himself a fundraising goal of £1,000. Luckily, Oliver says he has a strong support system, with his partner running the Brighton Marathon for Endometriosis UK, which means they’re able to motivate each other along the way.
To prepare, Oliver has been following an intense training regime, mixing gym workouts, outdoor runs, half marathons, interval training, and pace training, all while navigating the busy streets of Birmingham.
Oliver knows that many families across the Midlands struggle to access food and essential support:
“People are often left fending for themselves, and there are plenty of stories about parents going hungry to feed their children, and children still being malnourished or hungry when they get to school… Until those in power step up to the plate, we can all do something to make sure families have access to basic necessities.
Hopefully by raising awareness and money for FareShare Midlands they’ll be able to continue their great work until change is made.”
