Sign up nowWe’re so pleased to announce that, as part of a FareShare-wide initiative, FareShare Midlands has secured restricted funding through DEFRA’s new Tackling Food Surplus at the Farm Gate scheme. This vital government-backed investment will help us fight even more food waste and food insecurity across the Midlands.
With this funding, over the next 12 months we will:
We anticipate an increase in fresh produce moving through our depots, enabling us to reach even more local charities, community groups and individuals with healthy, nutritious food.
“Thanks to DEFRA’s commitment, we can ensure that greater amounts of fresh, surplus produce reach those struggling with poverty and food insecurity. We are grateful to the government for this opportunity to save even more food from waste and boost food access across the Midlands.” Simone Connolly, CEO, FareShare Midlands.
To redistribute the increasing level of food, we urgently need more volunteers – to pick, pack and sort in the warehouse and drive the vans. If you can spare a few hours, please get in touch now: www.faresharemidlands.org.uk/volunteer

Having access to food is a basic human right and yet 14.5 million people in the UK are struggling to afford to eat.
