From 29th November to 6th December, FareShare Midlands took part in The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2022. To meet growing need, the region’s largest food redistribution charity wanted to raise £50,000, to help deliver an extra 200,000 meals to vulnerable families and individuals living in deprived communities across the Midlands.

A survey has been carried out by FareShare UK to assess the impact of the Cost of Living Crisis on the charities and community groups receiving our food. Here are the results from members in the Midlands.

The cost of living in the UK has been rising since late 2021, affecting businesses and households across the country. This inflation is thought to be the result of a number of contributing factors; the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, Brexit and the challenges within the supply chain, and ongoing geopolitical issues between Russia and Ukraine. The combination of these factors has resulted in increased costs for energy, petrol and food, resulting in millions of people across the country struggling to stretch their income to match rising bills.

It’s World Food Day on Sunday 16 October 2022 and FareShare Midlands in Lincolnshire, the local branch of the UK's top food redistribution charity, is urgently calling on the good people of Lincolnshire for ongoing help.

Kindly funded by the SSP Foundation, a brand new 18 tonne MAN truck has been added to the FareShare fleet, to help distribute more food to vulnerable communities.
