FareShare Midlands was thrilled to be presented with a cheque for £32,421 from the Lincolnshire Co-op, raised by their generous staff and shoppers through their Community Champions scheme!
Every time a Lincolnshire Co-op member shops using their dividend card, a donation is made to the Community Champions Scheme. This, combined with staff fundraising efforts, collection boxes in stores and carrier bag charge proceeds, gradually fills up the fundraising pot. These funds are then distributed to support local charities and organisations, which provide valued services to the local community.FareShare Midlands was honoured to be named as a recipient of this fundraising from September to December of 2021, and we are completely blown away by the total amount raised. This money will make such a difference at our Lincoln depot, where it will be used to cover our van costs; a fundamental part of our operations getting food out to our members! A further £3,263 kindly donated by Lincolnshire Co-Op to our Nottingham depot will aid us in expanding our freezer capacity, maximising the potential our surplus food.
Laura Spencer, Head of Development at FareShare Midlands, said:
“We are so thankful for this generous donation to FareShare Midlands from Lincolnshire Co-op. Their support of our Lincoln Food Redistribution Hub has been critical to its success so far, and this further financial contribution to helping us fight hunger and food waste is so gratefully received.”
