Help Feed Families and Prevent Food Waste

We are taking part in The Green Match Fund to raise £10,000
which will result in 40,000 meals,
saving 17 tonnes of food from going to waste.

Britain is hungry. 14.5 million people in the UK are living in poverty and 4.3 million are children. These numbers continue to climb as the cost of living increases. Meanwhile, over 33% of all human-made climate emissions arise from food production, and 33% of all the food grown in the world is wasted. In the UK, food production and waste generate 35% of our total CO2 emissions.

Having weathered two years of hardships brought on by the pandemic, the UK's poorest people now face further financial difficulties as the cost of living escalates. The Community Food Members we work with are supporting families struggling to bear the increasing food and energy costs.

With your help we want to support the growing number of vulnerable families, and redistribute even more good-to-eat surplus food which would otherwise end up going to waste.
Your gift of £10, matched to £20, will help provide one week of nutritious meals for a hungry family.
Please support our appeal during Green Match Fund week and your donation will be matched.

Coping on your own in 2022, with rocketing fuel bills and rising cost of living, is hard enough. Add four young children into the mix in your new role as a single dad, and it all becomes that much tougher to make ends meet. Read more here.

“Everything’s going up – food, taxes, heating – and I’m really worried about what it’ll be like in winter. If I get a big bill I arrange to pay off a certain amount every month. But the council are also taking extra money out next month so I’m having to pay their bills, while other bills are going up.”
- James, single dad and beneficiary of Gussie's Kitchen

'I'm very grateful that Fulbridge is able to help me with food when I need it. It makes a big difference to me and my children'
- Anna, parent of two children at Fulbridge Academy

FareShare Midlands "gives us fresh food, and is saving us an absolute fortune. The Hub provides lots of fresh produce, some protein and we are able to give it out instead of the same generic tins week after week."
- Councillor Stephanie Carruthers, who runs the Sutton on Sea Community Larder

"The food from FareShare made a huge difference to our organization; many of the children would just go hungry if we were not able to feed them. We wouldn’t be able to give out free food without the service from FareShare."
- Bethan, Braunston Adventure Playground, a FareShare Midlands member charity
