About FareShare
FareShare Midlands is a high profile charity with investors and stakeholders from varying sectors not least over 500 companies in the food industry and FareShare UK.  You will work towards, and achieve, best-in-class warehouse & food co-ordination as part of the warehouse and operations team in Fareshare Midlands. As a team you will ensure that food is allocated in a safe, timely and accurate way to optimise the service provided from your depot to our community.

Purpose of the role
FS Midlands is embarking on a period of significant growth & change. As Warehouse & Food Co-ordinator you will have responsibility for the co-ordination of our food stock, from goods-in to picking, dispatch and stock rotation. Working closely with the wider Fareshare Midlands team and volunteers, you will support the monitoring and utilisation of warehouse space, stock, deliveries and collections to ensure food reaches its destination amongst our members safely, on time and in full.
You will be the face of FareShare, supported by a large team of volunteers to ensure our stock is accurate on our bespoke IT system (Gladys), and that stock rotation is maintained. You will also support your team leader in ensuring this team follows H&S and Food Safety standards set out in the FareShare policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all our colleagues & visitors, and the safe receipt of food by all our charity members. Some of the team may have learning disabilities, as we aim to offer employability and training opportunities for all members of our community, and your role will include supporting & coaching all our valuable volunteers and staff members

Main responsibilities
In the FareShare Regional Centre you’ll:
  • Get to know your team and respond to questions about FareShare’s mission, the food partners who support us, charities who receive food and the planned activities for the day
  • Work as a team with the Warehouse Team Leader / Manager, warehouse colleagues, and volunteers to ensure all shifts are well planned, supervised and meet daily operational & safety needs
  • Be responsible for the accuracy of all stock on the system, from booking-in to allocation and stock counts
  • Support the Warehouse Team leader / supervisor in dealing with our charity members where necessary, either over the phone or face-to-face when sorting collections
  • You and your team will be responsible for booking in food onto the food management system, managing stock accuracy & quality
  • Provide leadership and guidance for regular volunteers and corporate volunteer groups, ensuring they follow all policies and procedures, high standards of accuracy are maintained and their volunteer experience is a satisfying one.
  • You will maintain excellent relations and communications with volunteers, staff, food suppliers and charities
  • Provide or update data and review KPIs and reports to identify issues and opportunities for the daily reviews, which you will attend when on shift
You may be required to drive a fork lift truck as part of the role, and full training and coaching will be provided.
You may also from time to time be required to drive a FareShare van, when you’ll:
  • Drive safely, responsibly and within the law
  • Be courteous to all road users

FareShare is an equal opportunities employer and so at all times you’ll:
  • Be courteous and demonstrate FareShare’s equality and diversity policy to all team-mates and visitors
  • Take responsibility for the safety of volunteers who join you
  • Support the Volunteer Manager in ensuring all volunteers have a valuable and rewarding experience whilst supporting FareShare
Like the supply of surplus food to FareShare no two shifts are the same. Every day new food arrives and your team-mates will include new people including corporate volunteers who want to get involved in the FareShare mission. You will be part of a small staff team responsible for ensuring the safe and effective distribution of food each day.

Applications should be submitted to ruth.newbold@faresharemidlands.org.uk and include an up to date CV
