We are thrilled to announce that FareShare Midlands has been shortlisted as a finalist by the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce for their Excellence in the Third Sector Award!
The Annual Dinner and Awards, taking place on Friday 4th March, is one of the largest business occasions in the UK, which recognises the achievements of businesses and organisations across the region. Birmingham City Council is headline partner of the awards and, as this will be the first time in two years that the event is held in person, it promises to be a night of great celebration.
There are 13 awards for the taking, ranging from customer service to responsible business, sales and marketing to technology and innovation. However, FareShare Midlands is one of 8 charities shortlisted for the Excellence in the Third Sector Award (sponsored by Unity Trust Bank).
This accolade recognises the hard-work of non-profit organisations committed to tackling some of the UK’s largest problems, particularly as the last two years have worsened existing socio-economic struggles.
Last year, FareShare Midlands redistributed 6,686 tonnes of food, helping over 550 frontline groups provide 16m meals. We saved these groups £2.5m on food (so they could spend it elsewhere), and on average our food reaches 60,000 people each week. In addition, FareShare Midlands is building on its overall mission to fight hunger and tackle food waste, by creating opportunities through their employability programmes. With an ambition by 2024 to support 400 people into vocational training, placements or paid work.
